About Me:
Hello! Thank you for visiting my website. My name is Chef Tarra M. Keesee. I am a graduate of Johnson & Wales Univeristy of both the Culinary Arts and Baking & Pastry. I love all things cooking, and baking. Food is a passion that drives me to achieve the impossible; which is mainly to create an epicurean delight to the layman's palate by awakening the senses and feeding one's apetite for life. (Piece of cake, wink wink)
I began my education in food at the age of five, watching powerhouse chefs like Martin Yan, and Julia Childs on television as they prepared the most succelent dishes out of ordinary ingredients and turning it into a display of gorgeous edible fodder. I was mesmerized at Martin Yan's ninja-like usage of his knives chopping at the speed of light and telling myself that I too wanted to be able to weild a knife as he. I also was intrigued by Julia Child's passion of cuisine. Julia was able to capture the essence of cooking and transcend that to the masses. She taught us that cooking is an art that is reachable within every home, and that good food, cuisines of the world, can be mastered with learning the foundational skills. Learning from these two and many more chefs blossomed within me the desire to taste the world through my palate, and that even the most complex and intricate dishes are never more than a knife and chopping board away from achieving one's intimate epicurean desires.
The goals of cooking and learning have never stopped after graduating. I have learned more outside of school than I ever thought possible. Mastering the basics has given me the keys to unlocking a galaxy of possibilities. The art of culinary and the science of baking, have allowed me to create such wonderful edible pleasures. I am coming into my sixteenth year of being a professional chef. Every year brings new challenges that I am scared to face but overcome with more and more confidence as I achieve them. I have worked in hotels, bed and breakfasts, restaurants, private homes, mobile catering, chocolatier shops, pastry shops, coached up and coming food artists and now I am taking on private projects as my own endeavors. I look foward to the many more challenges ahead and travail to partake in the victory of conquering them all.
